Post-Trauma Stress for Managers (3 days)
Post trauma stress is an occupational hazard for the public safety professional. Officer involved shootings, baby and children calls, fatal accidents, suicides, homicides can add up in the backpack of past incidents. This 3-day course addresses the dynamics of post trauma stress, critical incident stress as well as occupational stress for law enforcement. A supervisor's response to line personnel can make the difference between secondary trauma and effective coping in the aftermath. Techniques for effective and compassionate response by supervisors will be addressed and practiced. Coping strategies for self-care will also be explored. Taught by Janet Childs.
